This article introduces research indicating that linguistic mirroring can be an effective tool to increase your ability to influence others. It primarily focuses on convincing communications to win over a judge or evaluator, however I invite you to read it with the people you interact with in mind. I’d be curious to explore what those of you who are applying to jobs think of this in terms of your interviewing approach.

Introducing the ICF Team Coaching Competencies

Team coaching is a growing discipline in the coaching industry, and to better serve this expanding trend, the International Coaching Federation (ICF) has released the ICF Team Coaching Competencies model. You can find a video introducing the model, as well as two Q&A webinar recordings, on the ICF website page I’ve linked below. Personally I’ve noticed an increased interest in group coaching among the coaches I’ve mentored particularly this year, and think it’s great that the ICF is taking steps to provide resources around it.

The holidays look different this year. Chris and I are staying at our house in California, and have chosen not to fly to be with family this year, as we typically do. They shared that their favorite books this year explored themes around enhancing well-being, standing up for what you believe in, embracing our common humanity, and finding reason to hope for a better future. It’s a great list to check out to choose a book to dive into over the holiday, or to gift to a loved one or pop into their stocking.
